Why We Joined the SVN Network


In 2018, Latus Commercial Realty became SVN | Latus. As we approach the three-year anniversary of joining the SVN network, I have been thinking about that decision to join.

I know I made the right choice, especially now as we navigate more uncertain times in commercial real estate. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about changes to the way we work and accelerated some trends we were already seeing in the market.

While we still see good times ahead for the industry — we’ve never been busier! — they are different times, too, and SVN has helped us remain prepared to serve our clients as the economy navigates new challenges.

Here are six reasons why I joined the SVN network and why the #SVNDifference helps us serve our clients even better, day after day.

1. National Support, Local Focus

SVN has a lot of resources we draw on at the national level. Whether we want to discuss a strategy or get more information about economic trends impacting us in Central PA, SVN has a supportive network that offers feedback and insights.

2. Commitment to Giving Back

Community is so important to us at SVN | Latus because we’re all in this together. We love that SVN recognizes this commitment to grow and support our communities, too.

3. The 50/100 Rule

SVN advocates sharing 50% commission between brokers 100% of the time. We believe this is the right way to approach commission. Even before we joined SVN, we shared commissions with brokers from other firms.

We have seen how cooperation benefits clients, and we will always treat other commercial real estate brokers as friends, not foes. We’re all in the same boat, and there is enough business to go around. We close more deals in less time, giving clients greater value, when we share commissions.

4. Cutting-Edge Technology

SVN shares its tech, which benefits teams like ours who want solutions we can use right away rather than trying to perfect tech on our own. The cloud-based resources have been especially welcome as more and more of what we do goes electronic.

5. Transparency in Every Deal

Honesty and integrity are very important to me. SVN encourages an open and transparent approach to every real estate deal. While we make real estate deals, I have always believed our job is about relationships, and we want everyone we work with to trust us to have their best interests in mind. This allows us to offer better advice and guidance.

6. Reliable Information and Insights

The weekly SVN Live calls offer an overview of the economy and feature properties listed across the nation. They provide a great way to learn and get ideas for marketing our properties and connecting with potential clients.

When we joined SVN, we were in a growth mode, and that remains true today. SVN has helped us expand even more, bringing on new team members and quickly becoming one of the top SVN companies, an honor we’re proud of and humbled to receive.
